For a day that was devoted to lowering your ETs via multiple runs – or a loose interpretation of qualifying – it sure was a busy one. Somewhere in the area of 150 cars hit the Mid-Michigan Motorplex quarter-mile just after 9 AM yesterday. HMM editor Terry McGean and I still have to match a lot of names to cars, but I thought I’d share a little more than I did yesterday while I have the chance.
Before the short mid-day break, this pair of Six-Pack powered Mopars made a run. The result in the near lane was a 0.68 reaction time with an ET of 12.964 seconds at 109.15 MPH, while the far lane ran a quicker 12.23 at 114.25 MPH (0.35 reaction).
And proving that you don’t have to have a multi-carbed Mopar to go fast, the driver of this Firebird pushed it to a 12.246 ET at 115.88 MPH.
What’s interesting is that these examples were not the fastest cars in attendance – several were running in the mid-11’s consistently!
Finals begin just past noon today!
