620-hp Hennessey Dodge Challenger SRT600 Introduced For 2009, Change of Underwear Sold Seperately

Hennessey Challenger SRT600 [From HennesseyPerformance.com]

Hennessey Challenger SRT600

Unlike the Mopar-tuned Dodge Challenger drag racers, the new Hennessey Challenger HPE600 Turbo’s are completely street legal and completely bad ass. A product of Hennessey Performance Engineering [HPE], the Hennessey HPE600 Turbo package is geared towards drivers looking to upgrade the already impressive stock performance of their Dodge Challenger SRT8 models. Utilizing forced induction for a turbo-charged power boost, the HPE600 Turbo upgrades the Challenger SRT8’s OEM output an incredible 195 units to 620-hp. Coupled with 650 lb-ft of torque, the Hennessey Challenger earned itself an awe-inspiring 11.9-second quarter-mile laptime during test runs.

In addition to white knuckle speeds, the Hennessey Turbo package also primes the Challenger SRT8’s for lightning-fast responsiveness with KW adjustable coil-over shocks/springs and StopTech brakes. Of course, this kind of precision execution doesn’t come cheap, the 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 with complete HPE600 Turbo upgrade starts at $74,950. We believe the tag is worth every penny [a pretty significant admission, coming from us], because standard with the Hennessey Turbo upgrade is:

• High-flow ported & polished aluminum cylinder heads
• Lowered compression ratio (from stock 10.3:1 to 9.6:1)
• Garrett ball bearing turbocharger
• Handmade stainless-steel turbo headers
• Single 44 mm billet-aluminum wastegate
• Stainless-steel 3-inch diameter dual exhaust system
• Front mounted air-to-air intercooler
• 3.5-inch polished inlet tube with integrated blow-off valve
• High flow air filter
• Upgraded fuel injectors
• Billet aluminum fuel rails
• Upgraded fuel pump system
• Hennessey and HPE600 exterior badges
• Hennessey HPE600 “Hockey Stick” graphics package
• Hennessey embroidered floor mats
• Serial numbered dash plaque in interior and engine compartment
• Hennessey embroidered front seat head rests
• Hennessey / HPE600 on tachometer and speedometer
• All necessary gaskets and fluids
• Professional installation
• One year limited warranty
• Half day of driving instruction at Lonestar Motorsports Park (adjacent to the HPE facility)

Toyota’s A-BAT Concept could be a Reality… if the Response is Right!

toyotaa-bat-9.jpg picture by willfusion

Toyota executives are playing the wait-and-see game with their A-BAT Concept. After its debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January and its showing at the Chicago Auto Show this past week the future of the A-BAT is in the hands of the consumer… for now.

As their current trucks have grown substantially in size and are selling well Toyota is looking for a truck to fit in on the small scale. As the auto market is beginning to swing back toward smaller cars all of the players in the industry are looking for a way to fill the void, but it is Toyota’s A-BAT that was first to step up with something different and say, “Pick Me!”

SEMA 2007: Scion xD Widebody… this is not a robot Vacuum Cleaner

Scion Xd SEMA

Five Axis Design brought out their Scion xD with its widebody kit and sporty stance to this years SEMA show. The widebody kit, upgraded tires and popaya orange paint job finally gives this xD conversion a lot of kick. However, the wide mouth grill on the xD seems inspired by a new age Hoover design that hugs the road and sweeps the streets. There are plenty of upgrades both inside and out that make this one of the best Scions brought to show, however the engine remained untouched and thus remains uninspiring.

Who is to say that a car must push at least 200hp in order to be show worthy or relevant? (more…)

Pricing for Pontiac’s 2008 G6 GXP has been released

2008 Pontiac G6 GXP

News was released today that Pontiac’s 2008 G6 GXP will carry a sticker price of $26,795 for the sedan and $26,595 for the coupe. The regular GT version of the G6 will have a price of $22,995 for either coupe or sedan. So what makes up the bulk of the difference between the two cars that would warrant an increase in price that is over $3,000? Try a sport tuned suspension, 6-speed automatic transmission, 18″ wheels and a lim 35 extra horsepower from a 3.6 liter engine (that is .1 liter larger engine than the GT).

While we should know that the G6 is not the G8 and will not have the same performance expectation (i suppose), it just seems as though we should expect more for $26,595. For that price point a Mustang GT can be had that has 48 more horsepower than the G6 GXP. (more…)

Citroen C-Airscape Concept Car set for Frankfurt Auto Show Unveiling

Citroën C-Airscape

It seems like every month another European concept car comes along that will not be seen in the U.S. market. With the Frankfurt Auto Show coming up soon that number could swell dramatically. For this week it is a Citroen concept car called the C-Airscape. It is a 4-seat convertible that is said to be based on the upcoming C5 sedan.

First impressions of what has been released of the C-Airscape are favorable. The lines of the body, trim and style all give the concept convertible a streamlined effect. There is a balance of sporty elegance in the 2-door C-Airscape.

The unveiling at the Frankfurt Auto Show will surely provide us added details and photos of the completed C-Airscape concept car. It may also give plenty of observers a chance to imagine for themselves just what the coupe version, the C5, will look like. Check back here in the coming months for more information from Citroen.
