We've become familiar with Jason Heffner's creations over the past few years, from his insanely powerful Lamborghini Gallardos to mindblowingly fast Ford GTs. For his latest project, Heffner has teamed up with Ford GT chief designer Camilo Pardo for a special edition version of the car that looks as good as it is fast. Visually, the American supercar gets a racing inspired paint scheme and graphics, flat black BBS wheels and a new rear bumper from Classic Design Concepts. Inside, the car gets a chrome shift ball, wide-shaft shifter and aluminum seat grommets. Under the bonnet, the GT is blessed with Heffner's twin-turbo treatment as well as a Camilo-designed billet aluminum intake and black valve covers. Horsepower is rated at north of 900 and the car is capable of topping 200 mph in under 20 seconds while passing through the 1/4 mile at over 150 mph. There's a press release after the jump with more details and high-res photos in the gallery below over which you have our permission to ogle.

Come To The El Cheapo Car-Cienda For Quality Tasmanian Incoherence [Classic Ad Watch]

So we're picturing this isolated one-dog town in Tasmania, where some guy has soldered together a futzy UHF transmitter out of gear salvaged from wrecked Japanese freighters and calls it a "TV Station." And the only other business in town, a wretched dirt lot covered with expired Holdens and some Nissans dredged out of the wreckage of the same freighter that provided the TV station's "control room," gets a low-end video camera and makes a completely incomprehensible advertisement. Yes, that's it. And you thought you'd never hear a Mexican-Tasmanian accent!

How About A V12-Powered Datsun 240Z? [Engine Swap]

We'll admit that it may well be impossible to top the Austin-Healey 100 with supercharged Jaguar V12 in the Insane Sports Car Engine Swap department, but we still think putting a Jaguar V12 in this Z was a fine idea. The seller doesn't provide a lot of info about it (we'd like to know more than just "chev 6 speed") but it looks like the swap was done with a minimum of duct tape. And all for just $9,000 Canadian!

Thanks to Mark for the tip. [Kijiji]

Tin Buick- antique store find

Buick tin toy

I found this 1950 Buick replica tinplate car at a local antique shop this week (parked right next to about 5 Hemmings diecast piggy banks). No markings on the underside indicating who made it, but it is probably Japanese, judging from the quality of manufacture.

The car is roughly 1/18th, scale about 11 inches long. The details are pretty nice as you can see in the pictures. Ventiports on the hood, taillight assemblies, front grille and hood ornament look very accurate for the period. The white paint has an off-blue tint to it and the pink roof matches the bench seat interior. I would be interested if someone could identify the maker of this car. I have seen similar Buicks online but none where the manufacturer was indicated. Someone told me it was model MF322 but not who made it.  I am not into tin models this large. I have some smaller windups, Marx, Lupor and Technofix; but am not familiar with the Japanese tin car manufacturers.

Knight Rider Returns this Sunday

Knight Rider
Everyone’s favourite talking car from the 80s returns to television with the premiere of the new Knight Rider sequel this Sunday. Although we are very skeptical if the 2008 Knight Rider show, now featuring a Mustang GT500KR, will come close to the Hoff’s classic, it should make for some entertaining TV viewing. David Hasselhoff cameos as the new Michael’s Dad, and Val Kilmer voices the new K.I.T.T.

As a fan of the original, I am not thrilled with a few things about the sequel. The main character comes across more as vaguely ditzy, rather than an intelligent super sleuth, and what really irks me is they keep switching the cars, between a stock looking Cobra, and a very tacky Need for Speed version with a ridiculous double wing, fake side scoops, and other plasticky add-ons. Fake scoops???? I thought it’s supposed to be a supercar!! If the audience is supposed to believe that Knight Rider needs to sprout Fast and Furious spoilers to get into ‘attack mode’ then I dont expect the rest of the plot to be any better.

In any case If you were a Knight Rider fan, here are some promos and media coverage of the new show to get you in the mood. The second last video is the opening sequence of the original show which debuted in September 1983, featuring the world famous Knight Rider theme. The last video features a ‘dancer’ from America’s Got Talent. Enjoy…

If you're looking to sell a hydrogen car, who do you try and sell it to? If you're Honda the answer is kids, of course, because they're probably going to be the first who might be able to get one without a special program. Speaking of the future, will Aptera bring out a gasoline-only model? And speaking about the past, which of these classic green cars will be worth the most ten years down the road?
